Why Having A Postnatal Depletion Assessment Now!

Now more than ever it is important for women to really focus on their health and wellbeing during their postpartum recovery.  If there is one positive thing that our Covid-19 world has taught us is that we need to take charge of our health and make sure that our immune system is strong and ready to fight against anything thrown at us, particularly when we have a new precious life that depends on us.

Unfortunately, the old tale of “weathering it through” no longer resonate with the modern and conscientious woman who has the power to have the scientific knowledge of whether her symptoms are due to imbalances in her brain and, if so, take appropriate steps to fix it so that she can enjoy bonding with her new baby and the joys of being a new mum, as quickly as possible.

Empowering any woman to take charge of their health and wellbeing after birth, especially during these challenging times, is about the most precious gifts a new mum can receive.

Did You Know That:

  • A mother’s brain literally shrinks during the last trimester and that BABY BRAIN can be due to lack of the important Omega-3 fatty acid DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid)?
  • SENSITIVITY TO LIGHT AND SOUNDS might be a sign that the mother’s cortisol levels are out of balance?
  • BABY BLUES, BABY BRAIN, and other negative emotions mothers might experience could be because the body being depleted from key micronutrients such as Iron, Calcium, Vitamin D, Zinc, Vitamin B12, etc?
  • The “mama-mineral”, Magnesium, is a key player in combating EXHAUSTION & FATIGUE?

Postnatal Depletion is the lack of micronutrients which plays a major role in pregnancy and after birth.  It is estimated that over 50 percent of all mothers suffer from Postnatal Depletion, and its symptoms can last until the child is 7 years old.  It involves a complex constellation of symptoms and negative feelings mothers experience after giving birth and can affect all spheres of a mother’s life.  These include fatigue, hypervigilance, insomnia, irritability, lack of concentration, memory loss, amongst other symptoms.  Traditionally, this period is referred to as “The Baby Blues” and almost all mothers are likely to relate to the term “Baby Brain”.  Sometimes these symptoms can be so severe that it mimics postnatal depression, but women are often expected to simply weather it through.  However, having your blood tested against these important micronutrients will help you optimise your post-pregnancy brain and speed up your recovery.
